GAL DEFINITELY APPROVED AS ETSI STANDARD

The ECONET consortium is proud to announce that the ETSI Board vote has been closed on 24 March 2014 and the Green Abstraction Layer (GAL) has been definitely approved as ETSI STANDARD 203-237.

MEMBERSHIP VOTING PHASE AND PUBBLICATION OF THE GAL STANDARDIZATION

The final voting phase of the ETSI Membership began on the 22nd January 2014, and it will end on 24th March 2014. The publication of the new version standard is scheduled for 7th April 2014.

ECONET CONTRIBUTED WITH THE OFFICIAL CODE OF CONDUCT ON ENERGY CONSUMPTION OF BROADBAND EQUIPMENT VERSION 5.0

On December 20 has been officially emitted the new BB-CoC version 5. The studies performed by ECONET contributed to push the new thresholds towards more restrictive values in order to speed-up the reduction of the energy consumption in the next telecommunications network devices.

SUBMISION OF THE FINAL DRAFT FOR APPROVAL GAL STANDARDIZATION

On November 27, Prof. Raffaele Bolla, on behalf of the ECONET project and with the support of Ericsson Telecomunicazioni, Telecom Italia, Alcatel-Lucent and CNIT, submitted the final draft for the Green Abstraction Layer (GAL) Standardization to the ETSI Technical Committee “Environmental Engineering”. With this submission, the GAL Work Item (WI) changes its denomination to ES 203 237.

ECONET AT ETSI EE MEETING #43

ECONET coordinator participated at the ETSI EE Meeting (#43) in conjunction with ITU-T SG5, that took place on October 21 – 25, in Naples – Italy. The main result of this meeting was the definition of a stable GAL draft. At the end of the meeting, October 25, a new version was submitted as stable draft.

On September 28, the ETSI Work Group (WG) / Technical Board (TB) created the WI with the official name DES/EE-0030. The selected rapporteur was Prof. Raffaele Bolla (ECONET coordinator).

ECONET WAS PRESENT AT THE ETSI TC-EE MEETING

The ECONET coordinator was invited to participate in the ETSI TC-EE meeting held in Paris on September 25 – 27. He presented the GAL standardization proposal. During the meeting, the proposal was deeply discussed by the board members and, finally, the creation of a specific ETSI Work Item (WI) for the GAL standardization was approved.
