Title: Green technologies benchmarking
Start month:  M13 M17 (Feb 2012)
End month:  M27 M31 (Apr 2013)
Leader: LQDE
Participants:  MLX  LQDE  DCU  VTT  NVR  ETY  LGT  INFO
Objectives:
  • Integrate the energy-aware processing engines, smart NICs, and link interfaces developed in WP3 in order to obtain board prototypes to be tested and evaluated in a stand-alone way and/or by interfacing them with standard busses (i.e., PCI-e). The prototype boards will be of the following typologies and will include green capabilities at the internal processing engines and/or at link interfaces:
    • 2 DSLAMs;
    • 2 CPEs;
    • 2 L2 switches;
    • 1 IP Router;
    • 2 Ethernet network adapters.
  • Interface the board prototypes to testing facilities and integrate ad-hoc emulation means to complete needed building blocks to make link interfaces and/or packet processing engines fully operative for testing and demonstration purposes.
  • Realize the final evaluation of the green data-plane technologies resulting from WP3 activities. The related benchmarks will be based on a combination of real measurements with simulation data and on the results of T2.3. The tests will be conducted in a collaborative fashion but located in the laboratories where each technique has been developed.
  • Provide and catalogue the results and the performance evaluation of the most effective techniques to integrate into the specific devices in the T6.2.
Private area
