Title: Green Strategies at the Control Plane
Start month:  M13 M17 (Feb 2012)
End month:  M30 M33 (Jun 2013)
Leader: ALU
Participants:  CNIT  ALU  MLX  TEI  TELIT  GRNET  NASK  DCU  WUT  NVR  LGT
Objectives:
  • To provide control frameworks working on single devices and/or cabinets for the suitable management and the optimal synchronization of the energy and performance profiles among the device sub-components.
  • To design and develop novel distributed control strategies (i.e., traffic engineering), which allow reducing the energy requirements of the whole network, while guaranteeing network service requirements (end-to-end QoS, fault-tolerance, etc.).
  • To introduce novel network-wide energy-aware monitoring frameworks.
  • To extend current network control and management plane protocols and directly supporting green metrics and strategies.
