Title: Definition of Energy-aware States
Start month: M7 (Apr 2011)
End month:  M12 M14 (Nov 2011)
Leader: LGT
Participants:  CNIT  ALU  MLX  LQDE  TEI  DCU  LGT
Objectives:
  • Process and organize the different approaches to energy savings investigated in WP3, relevant results and required configuration parameters in order to outline potential analogies and bindings.
  • Synthesize and model at an operational level and with an approach uniform as much as possible:
    • network-specific technologies exploiting hardware power scaling capabilities, introduced in T3.1;
    • network-specific technologies exploiting advanced "deep" and "fast" hardware standby capabilities introduced in T3.2;
    • link interfaces with energy-aware capabilities introduced in T3.3;
    • measurement tool for estimating energy consumption and heat dissipation, introduced in T3.4.
  • Select a suitable set of parameters able to describe for each state of a given energy-aware element:
    • the trade-off between performance and power consumption;
    • its active and potential network capabilities;
    • the transition times to move to other energy states;
    • operating and measured parameters.
